The Creators

Reminds me of a story I read years ago
=====
A priest passing on a road saw a wounded person in the ditch on the side of the road
Remembering the teachings of his Faith he felt it his duty to offer help and succour .
He proceeded to do so and in the process asked
 " Who are you ? "
" I am the Devil " was the reply.
The man of God jumped back in horror and said
" I can't help you ! You are the enemy "
As he walked away the Devil said
" Come back ! If you let me die so will your profession ! You will have nothing to save the people from "
And therein lies a school of thought !

Very Good Jokes

I say - 😁😁😁😁😁
 It must have been a
#Very #Good #Joke !!!
Old Story #1
A man was ushered into a room where a group of people was laughing their heads off as some of them were mentioning a random number .
Intrigued, the visitor asked for an explanation and was told " These are the Tellers of Jokes and having oft repeated them have reduced them to serial numbers which when said brings instant recall which helps saves time ! "
Just then one of the group said  " twenty-seven " and they all ROFL but when they settled down one guy continued laughing .
Visitor : What happened to him ?
Guide : Oh he may have heard it for the first time !

I say - 😁😁😁😁😁
 It must have been a
#Very #Good #Joke !!!

Four legged brethren

Verse in appreciation of our four legged bretheren
=====
I met this guy on the street
He was looking at my feet
I asked " What ails you brother ? "
His reply was in a language another

Bow ! Wow ! ( Barking )

Translation :
Bow i offer to the Creator
Wow is for the breath of Nature
Which makes me find all that I need
People who voluntarily do me feed !

Then he seemed to ask :
What  ails  YOU  Brother ?

Your step is heavy , plodding along
Your brow is creased ,face is long
Here ' s a  paw , get de-stressed
Trust that , like me , You are Blessed

So much said and so much learned
Exchange of energy without a word
Brought me to the realisation
It's not speech but the  right vibration

Laughing Together - 4

Just a small funny story to try and emphasise on the importance of having a  #PlanB  in life's situation
===========
A puny frail fellow having had a couple at the local bar went out and found that someone had painted graffiti on his car ! Realising it must have  been someone from inside he swaggered in to the best of his ability and menacingly demanded to know who had done it !
A huge body builder type got onto his feet and looking down on our hero admitted to have done it
Mark you , his tone had under currents of " So what are you going to do about it ? "
The hero , quickly ' sized '  up the situation but not to appear a coward ( and still being a bit under the influence of the couple he had taken ) asked
" Did you do that on purpose  or was it a joke ? "
The big guy ( deepening the underline to ' what are you going to do about it ' ) said " I did it on purpose "
Our Hero , showing great presence of mind ( #PlanB ) said :
" Good , because I don't like jokes like that ! "
And beat a dignified retreat 😊😊

Mystery from Ancient Times

Very interesting - Can you guess what is common between all these prominent temples.

1. Kedarnath
2. Kalahashti
3. Ekambaranatha- Kanchi
4. Thiruvanamalai
5. Thiruvanaikaval
6. Chidambaram Nataraja
7. Rameshwaram
8. Kaleshwaram N-India

Very interesting - Can you guess what is common between all these prominent temples.
If your answer is they all are Shiva temples, you are only partially correct.
It is actually the longitude in which these temples are located.

They all are located in 79° longitudes. What is surprising and awesome is that how the architects of these temples many hundreds of kilometres apart came up with these precise locations without GPS or any such gizmo like that.

1. Kedarnath 79.0669°
2. Kalahashti 79.7037°
3. Ekambaranatha- Kanchi 79.7036°
4. Thiruvanamalai 79.0747°
5. Thiruvanaikaval 78.7108
6. Chidambaram Nataraja 79.6954°
7. Rameshwaram 79.3129°
8. Kaleshwaram N-India 79.9067°

See the picture -- all are in a straight line.

You will be surprised to know that there are Shiva temples in India which are built in a straight line from Kedarnath to Rameswaram. Wonder what science and technology we had with our ancestors, which we could not understand till today? The Kedarnath of Uttarakhand, the Kaleshwaram of Telangana, Kalahasti of Andhra Pradesh, Akhaseshwar of Tamil Nadu, Chidambaram and finally the Rameswaram temples have been built in the geographical straight line of  or nearer to that of 79 ° E 41 ' 54 "Longitude.

All these temples represent the expression of gender in the 5 elements of nature, which we call the punch Tatwa (FIVE Elements) in common language. Punch tatwa i.e. Earth, water, fire, air and space. These has released these five Shiva LINGAS on the basis of five elements.
1. Water is represented at Thiruvnanakwal Temple,
2. The representation of the fire is in Thiruvannamalai,
3. The air is represented in Kalahasti,
4. The earth is represented in Kanchipuram and in the cold
5. The space or the sky is represented at Chidambaram Temple! These five temples represent the wonderful mating of Vastu-Vigyan-Veda.

The speciality is also found in these temples in a geographical manner. These five temples were built according to yoga Science, and have been placed in a certain geographical alignment with each other. There will certainly be science that will affect the human body.

These temples were constructed about four thousand years ago when there was no satellite technology available to measure the latitude and longitude of those places. So how was the five temples so accurately established? God Only Knows.

There is a distance of 2383 km between Kedarnath and Rameswaram. But all these temples fall in almost the same parallel line. After all, thousands of years ago, the technology of which these temples have been built in a parallel line is a mystery to this day. The Shimmer lamp in the Srikalahasti temple shows that it Represent AIR Linga. The water spring in the inner plateau of the Thiruvanikka temple shows that Represent WATER-Linga. The huge lamp on the Annamalai hill shows that Represent FIRE-Linga. The Sawanbhu Linga of the sands of Kanchipuram shows that Represent the EARTH Linga and the incorporeal (NIRAKAR) state of Chidambaram is Representing as the incorporeal, heavens(AKASH) Eather element of God.

What is more surprising now is that the five Lingas, representing the five elements of the universe, have been installed centuries ago in a similar line. We should be proud of our ancestors ' knowledge and Intelligence that they had a science and technology that did not even distinguish modern science. It is believed that it is not only the five temples but also the many temples in this line which lie in the straight line from Kedarnath to Rameswaram. This line is also called the "SHIVA SHAKTI AKSH Rekha". It is likely to be made by keeping the entire temple of Kailash in the regions which falls in 81.3119 ° E!? The answer only God Knows.. ...

Amazing thing. Mahakal What is the relationship between the Shiva Jyotirlingams......??
The distance of the remaining Jyotirlingams from Ujjain is also interesting-
Ujjain to Somnath-777 km
Ujjain to Omkareshwar-111 km
Ujjain to Bhimashankar-666 km
Kashi Vishwanath from Ujjain-999 km
From Ujjain, Mallikarjun-999 km
Kedarnath from Ujjain-888 km
Ujjain to Tryanbakeshwar-555 km
Ujjain to Baijnath-999 km
Rameswaram-1999 km from Ujjain
From Ujjain to Nauseshwara-555 km

There was nothing in Hinduism without any reason.
Ujjain is considered to be the centre of the Earth. As a centre for thousands of years in Sanatan Dharma, a man-made instrument for calculating the sun and astrology in Ujjain has also been created about 2050 years ago.

And when the imaginary line on Earth Imaginary was created by the British scientist about 100 years ago, the central part of it was Ujjain. Even today, scientists come to Ujjain to know about the sun and space.

I ❤ nature ; I ❤ Life

I ❤ nature ; I ❤ Life
#The #Essential #Vikaas

If you have never marvelled at the awesome symmetry , design and colour combination of Creation this might be good place to start .

Look at the butterflies and moths and bumblebees
The sunrise and sunsets and the patterns of leaves
The flowers , their petals and dew - drops upon them
The clouds making shapes to create your dreams
The chorus of crickets singing Ave Maria at dusk
And the moon and the stars twinkling above
These are just some things you tend to notice
When love for life motivates your vision
Look upon all with love in your eyes !

Greatest Show in the World

#The #Greatest #Show #On #Earth
#Subscribe #Like
Give " The God Show "the thumbs up and lets push up its TRP ratings ! 😊😊
If  we consider it , now a days the same movies , TV shows ,  Google and You Tube can be viewed all over the world the only difference is that of time zones.
Content  seen is constant . Also , there may be particular spots where viewing may not be possible !
The Show of the Universe, in which the Sun , Moon and other  Celestial Bodies  are cast, can also be viewed from everywhere subject to time zones !
It's a great show without disturbing ads and needing no sub-titles and there is nowhere it can't be seen and also has beautiful backdrops !

Not everyone can Teach but All can learn

This is not a status comment nor aimed at anyone in particular but just a share of something I wrote  which may prove to be of interest to those who like to read these kind of things !
===============
Random thought triggered by a  beautiful post from Adriana (Andi) Fiveash on LinkdIn about how we should have confidence that there is a  higher purpose to our lives
Another way of saying that nicely is that there is a " method to our madness " 😊
Many of the posts I see evidence that quite a few have found it and are sharing their profound knowledge freely with others but there are others who want to do something but may feel depressed by their inability and to them I wish to point out the following examples which I give myself
. If you are broken - be like the pieces of coloured glass in a child's kaleidoscope . His light shining through will give great designs to the world
. Turn your tear filled eyes to His light and the world will get rainbow !
. Be a stained glass window in a Cathedral
Most of all be your natural self as that was the piece of the jig saw you were meant to be .
Inspire more than motivate as people like seeing examples and not being told to be one
In the end Murphy's Law will apply  😊 and not everyone can be a teacher there is need also for students !

Repeating it doesnt take away anything from the vallue of this one reproduced as received

No dictionary has ever been able to define the difference between #complete" and #finished". However, in a linguistic conference, held in London England, and attended by some of the best linguistics in the world, Samsundar Balgobin, a Guyanese was the clever winner.

His response was:

When you marry the right woman, you are "complete". If you marry the wrong woman, you are "finished". And, when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are "completely finished".

His answer received a five minute standing ovation.

Stirring of the Soul

Often , I keep returning to this poem of mine ,  which explains so much about sudden rapport with seeming strangers and the development of emotions

========
There are times when
You meet someone new
But get the feeling
This one I always knew

Maybe an earlier lifetime
In a past forgotten age
We shared glorious moments
Now dates in a history page

It doesn’t take you long
To know the other deep
As it were you have awoken
From a long refreshing sleep

There are no formal silences
As in new friends conversations
How can there be formality
It’s only a continuation

Friendship a poem

#Friendship  repeating just because ......
wish to dedicate it to my friend !
=====
Life was a barren desert
Till along came the Friend
That Oasis of cooling waters
Where every thirst could end

The One who listened
Shared all that was felt
In gratitude to whom
The very being knelt

When a friend leaves
And sails upon the Tide
There is an emptiness
Where only memories reside

Thoughts that haunt
Spectres of shared dreams
Reverberating in hollowness
Once the source of streams

Such is the mirage of life
That imagined future dear
Which fades into oblivion
As far as it is near

Funny Stories - 1

😀😀😀😀😀
Ok here are two  jokes  to help you relax . They just surfaced - crawled out of the woodwork !
==========
In the last Great War the Allies were searching for an effort from the common people . Some of the common people were resisting the effort.
One such worthy was called for a medical assessment to be enlisted . In the eye department :
Dr. : please read the last line
Worthy : which line ?
Dr.: on that chart
W: chart ? Which chart ?
D: ON THAT WALL!
W: Wall ? Er ..
He was promptly declared blind and rejected
To celebrate his victory the gentleman went into a nearby cinema hall to watch a film .
In the interval , when the lights came on , he discovered that in the seat next to his ,was the eye doctor .
With great presence of mind our Man asked the Doctor
" Excuse me , but does this bus go to London "
======%=
In one of his books Spike Milligan tells a story of how in certain parts of Europe during the war it used to be so cold that soldiers were reluctant to exit their sleeping bags at night .
However the cold would make them urgently want to take a leak .
A method was devised by which they got some relief in that cut lengths of inner tubes of cycles were ' strategetically ' attached and run out .
This method was considered foolproof until some mischief makers went around at night knotting the tubes which had a pinching effect and caused a reverse flow much to the discomfort of the occupants of the bags .
Sounds funny now but am sure the victims of the prank didn't see the humour of it !
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Thought on seeking Career Guidance

Some thoughts on Seeking Career Guidance
1. Guidance can be valuable when starting out ( whats my best #flight #plan ? )
2. Sometimes its needed to make a mid-course correction ( how can i improve my #trajectory ? How can i create #more #happiness ?)
In my opinion , we should also dwell on the following :
Often  an individual wants to consult others to get some pre - conceived aim validated !
Somewhere there is an internal uncertainty but their heart is so set on it that they fear that the person consulted would negate the chosen aim .
In this sense seeking guidance is an act of bravery . 😀
We should then seek Career Guidance if only to confirm and validate what we have decided already !

Retrospective Wisdom

Have you noticed the number of people who say " Oh Be Careful !" AFTER you have tripped on something ?
Everyone is a wise person after the event !
We do it all the time with our teams and colleagues and should be better equipped to warn them of pitfalls in advance 😊
Here's a funny little story to illustrate the point . I read this in a compilation of after-dinner speeches titled  " Please Pass the Port " . ( I am writing from memory and the telling may not be as good as the original )

In a small town there were several religious denominations and the Vicar , The Bishop and the Rabbi gathered  on Sunday  and went out on the lake in a boat  for a serene afternoon on the waters to ease the tensions caused by their morning sermons
As they had boarded , the Bishop suddenly remembered that he had forgotten the sandwiches he was to bring . He stepped out of the boat and walked ashore over the waters and came back with them . The Protestant remembered the coffee and did the same !
The  Rabbi was observing this with a jaw  that was dropping further by the minute . Not to let his Faith down he remembered a forgotten flask of water, stepped out of the boat and promptly sank , ungraciously , in the water !😊
The Bishop turned to the Vicar and said
" Oh dear ! We should have told him where the stepping stones are ! "

(Note : The denominations are used at random and it could have been any one of them who sank )

Happy Living

#Happy #Living
Stay Happy ! Stay Slim ! Stay Light !
Wishing each one Happy Living !

Sense of Humor is an essential weapon
Some of the wisest critics were
😀Humourists 😀
Dont mean to pontificate but just penning some thoughts

In the Readers Digest there is a section ( or used to be - haven't seen a copy in some time ) titled very perceptively
LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE
Amongst the serious articles on life stories and other such miscellany there was this group of funny stories and jokes which took the sting out of Reality !
A ray of sunshine on a cloudy day !
Think of it Tragic Greek Drama had sections of comic relief , the Circus always has  a Joker and every court had a Court Jester !
Therefore , it can be said that , in the drama and circus of Life we need to lighten up and laugh !
Personally , my greatest pleasure comes from making people laugh and smile and I believe it's not exclusive to me and most others feel the same. It's a different matter that there are some who may not always respond but that is a challenge not a failure.
A friend Suchi Deshpande in Singapore successfully  conducts Laughter Sessions ( have shared some of her posts ) and I have heard of Laughter  Clubs so this might be a good avenue to explore .
Laugh at the small things in life and try not to be serious all the time ( life is too short for that )  and (you may not share this feeling ) if I have to die may as well die laughing !

Most importantly remember
Suppressed Laughter rolls back and Inflates you at the Hips !

Branding

Just a light hearted look at Logos , Brands etc
Hope you read it with SOH

In the very early days when humans  realised that they all looked alike ( except for some differences in gender which got covered up over time) , they hit a roadblock of not being able to differentiate between friends , allies and foes !

So they came up with the  idea of having unique distinct tribal face and body  marks which were etched into the skin soon after birth .

Design and Branding experts of the time would have had a field day , I am sure , creating unique insignia which would represent the Mission and Vision statements of the tribe .

It also needed to be distinct lest brothers got killed in the flush of battle just because of an unnoticed dot or line .

The best part of course was that  plagiarism was not possible as  the mark had to be inscribed at young age and so was a very secure process.
So IPR laws were not needed.

In the modern day Corporate Jungle do Logos and Brand Names replace these concepts ?

In the olden days battles ceased at sundown as in the dark you could not identify the enemy and ran the risk of killing your brothers !
In the modern day the battle rages 24×7 and logos are all lit up !

Angels Exist.- story from the past

And I say Angels Exist !
Here is the story for the Day !
========
In my hurry ( good excuse ) on the first day of a new project I forgot my umbrella at home . ( First Idiotic move )
While leaving work it was drizzling lightly but I decided to walk ( 2nd Idiotic move )
The distance to home is too short to hail a cab but is not a hop step and jump away either . Convinced of being able to walk between raindrops I decided to walk . Don't know the meaning of patience ( another part of idiotic bull headedness. )
Any way , there I was walking between the raindrops , much to amusement of others but increasingly  conscious of becoming seriously wet .
Observation : A bald head offers no resistance to water rolling under your collar !
Halfway I heard a voice from behind saying " Hey Sir " - voice being female of course I stopped ! It was this young lady offering me place under her umbrella ( see photo )
I accepted and we walked along and those who know me would know we talked
She had come from Janakpur and was looking for Shanti Nagar which was down the road ( honestly it is !)
and I found out she was training to be a nurse but had low IELTS score. Promptly I advised her of what to do . At a point , her friend discovered they had to go elsewhere and I was back in the rain .
It was also a place I had to cross the road and lost in thought I missed seeing a fast approaching truck .( 3rd Idiotic move )
Close to being run over I felt an angelic hand on my arm pulling me out of Harms way !
Another young lady with umbrella ! ( Didn't agree to a photo ) who , it turned out was going towards a hostel near where I stay . So I was saved from not only rain but serious injury as well !!
Do you see how we are #protected ?
And that people do go out of their way to help others #voluntarily !

Parental Guidance

Thoughts on importance of  Career Guidance for parents

We don't mean guiding the parents on careers 😀 (though that is still  possible for those with smaller children)
Our address is to those with children on the verge of taking important decisions on the cross roads of their academic journeys
They are not only the child's Primary Advisors ( along with Teachers) they are also  stakeholders and investors in their childs future ( even if altruistically ) .
They can be deeply guided by knowledge of
What is their child  objectively suited for ?
What are the careers and prospects the future holds ?
What is the layout ( financial and emotional )  required for the coming years which would suit the budget and get the highest returns .
Parents can be the best guides if they are well informed .
Would love to see your views in the comments section

Dreaming it up !

" Don't put a limit on anything. The more you dream the farther you get "
Wow ! When I read this some images flashed instantaneously in my mind all about reaching out  - s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g  to our farthest limits of effort and endurance

On a beach every wave that comes in seems to be reaching as far inland as possible - has to beat a retreat - BUT - comes back with renewed vigour

In a forest each tree seems to be stretching its arms as far as it can in the sky and yet staying erect and rooted

The peaks of the highest mountains are stretching so much, holding their heads up above the clouds in silent communion  with the sky

Yes let's dream - it makes all things possible !

Riddle of Life

Life , I tell you , is such a Riddle 😤
Over the years I have gone  #forwards and #backwards , #upwards  and #downwards , sideways , in tail spins , making some friends and losing many , plumetted to #depths after rising to #heights , in short every which way possible .
Almost like a free wheeling Ferris wheel and you know what ?

At the end of it I find that I was just going around the same block !

You know what my one Ear said to the other , a day ago ( eye opener and show stopper )

" Hey man , we live on the same block !"

So I think the best thing would be to sit down and wait for the mind to get clarity .
What has to be Will be 😊😊
.

Big Bang Theory

Last night , with an  unnecessarily  powerful bang  it was proved to me yet again , if proof was needed , that there are angels or someone ( by whatever name you call ) that is always protecting us.
It's a given to be taken for granted !
" O yea of little  faith !! "
What happened was I was seated on a plastic chair known as a garden chair - only that it was on our terrace and not in a garden .
There I was having a pleasant phone conversation with a friend when suddenly , without any provocation, the chair gave way under me.

It was not as if I was having an animated conversation or wriggling around or putting too much weight on it or troubling it with any loud talk . I was just having an ordinary conversation on phone. The content of my talk also was not something to cause extreme behaviour in the chair.
Any way without so much of even a warning it just folded up.and gave up it's legs !
You can imagine my surprise at the support to my seat was suddenly not there . One moment I was sitting smartly and the next - whap ! - I was in the most ungainly pose , looking at the ceiling ,  my head bouncing off the parapet wall.
I can now imagine how surprised a King must feel when unceremoniously his throne is removed from under him. I am sure he would retain a regal posture which  mine most certainly was not !
Well apart from a hard knock to my head ( thick skull ) and the embarrassment of adopting a strange posture there was no other collateral damage.
So  the lessons  I learned
1. There is an Angel standing by
2. I have a thick skull
3. I can still get off the ground by myself when splayed out on my back
The event only shows that you never know when God will decide to knock you on the head - BE PREPARED !
It's not Always that the worst happens

Of Four and Two Legged Creatures

Really ! Dogs are so theatrical and dramatic ! Very good thespians though ...

You can go out just for 30 minutes and when you return they behave as if  it's been months since they met you !
Even my stray friends greet me every morning ,  enthusiastically , like a long lost friend !

They don't expect anything in return except a little scratch and a pat .

Just an observation and not comparing with two legged creatures

Catch em thinking

To know what or how a person is REALLY thinking  - take them by surprise !
Ambush them in the gulch where they are least expecting it !

Once upon a time , a man came to the court of a great King  and displayed an  ability to speak many languages , fluently .
The court was amazed and the King  got many people ,whose native tongue was different, to speak to the man . He replied each one in their own tongue down to idiom and syntax.
On being asked , several times , the man refused to reveal his origins.
Intrigued , the King said he would offer a large fortune to any one who could discover the secret .
Many clever people approached the man himself and offered him a ' cut ' if he made them the messengers of the answer. He refused !
Then a clever one sneaked into the linguist's chamber in the early hours when he was fast asleep and sprinkled some water on his face .
The man was startled out of slumber uttering  who's that's and what's that's ( including some unprintables ) BUT THEY WERE IN HIS MOTHER TONGUE ! His secret stood revealed !
So while it's not advocated that we go around sneaking into bed chambers sprinkling water on people sometimes it's necessary to catch people with their mask off and defenses down  to know their truth.

Perception

Sharing this story only to underline the importance of perception and not to belittle any art form .

A Marriage broker ( when they were still in fashion )  arranged a meeting between two families with the purpose of mutual going over of prospects.  After some time of polite conversation the girl and her  family left and the broker remained behind to  get the boys side of things.
The family broke in on the hapless man as to how he could have brought someone who has no nose ,  only one eye , that too in the middle of the forehead and square ears etc etc
In the middle of it the man put up his hand and said

 " STOP ! You either like Picasso or you don't ! "

Sometimes I wonder if we don't question and have prejudices about the Art Form the Maker / Creator used from His repertoire to design our lives ?
If we understand the flow of His lines and strokes wouldn't we be more content and focus better on our CORE COMPETENCIES ?

Wednesday, 22 July 2026

Understanding is productivity

Triumph is for those who do battle and not of those who work at just keeping the enemy / competition out .

Just thinking , what wasted and negative  energy is  " boycotting " an idea or product

We could get much further if we diverted the same energy in doing things  better so that the object of our discomfort would get dislodged .

Free competition and open markets are important spurs for efficient productivity !

Nationalism , protectionism and politics only offer  easy crutches  for being second and limping.

Nothing in life ever goes away by pretending it does not exist ! That is the hard reality and the earlier we recognise it as a hidden blessing and not an unwanted curse , the better and quicker is our effort to overcome any disadvantage , percieved or otherwise .

Toss of the coin

Common phrases used by most people in the game of " I am always right "

" Yes but ......... "  and " I told you so " or  " Didn't I tell you "

It works like this : You moot an idea to a group and the above immediately give you all the reasons why it can't work

You go ahead with the idea and it works they can claim that their observations helped you iron out the weak points and hence success but if it fails ..... Then they had said so hadn't they ?

HEADS I WIN TAILS YOU LOSE !

On Light Houses

Lighthouses don't run around and give light ! They just stand and deliver !
What pleasure to stand on the shores of Life's Ocean and watch the passing people like ships floating along and offering the Light to whom you can and who want and generally have a useful existence !
All of us who offer guidance and help to others on the choppy seas of life are the Light Houses who offer clarity for a successful passage

Two Sides of a coin

In your case , your Karma is visiting you - now pay !
In my case - I am a victim of circumstances -sympathise
In your case sympathy will only be a crutch - rise and be strong
In my case - it's everyone's ethical duty to support

Empathy

Just an observation :
Was standing in a crowd of people on the sidewalk when an ambulance raced by with siren screaming and lights flashing .
Just like when such a thing happened several times on different occasions in the past  I noticed quite a few faces around me looking concerned , their eyes following the vehicle racing away , and I thought they looked, for some moments ,  sad .
For an unknown person whose poor condition and possible suffering was only indicated by our association of ideas with a speeding ambulance .
Leads me to believe that #empathy is a natural human response but often it requires an ambulance to evoke it .
Does not happen , as such , if it's a silent hearse
Nor a silent person in our life !

Poem on Gratitude

Thought #simply #stated on owing to the #unheard , #unsung , #unsaid
=============
My blanket started somewhere on the back of a sheep
My pencil in the Wood
What riches would they claim from me
If only they knew how , or could ! ?

My meals started with a seed on a farm
My water in a lake
The nourishment that I gain from them
They can never ask or of partake

Do I give back to all these things ?
Which my life a comfort make
No I just take them for granted
Continuing to take !

Connections abound in the Universe
The tenuous strands to be found
All people , places and things connected
What goes out must come round !

On celebrating Birthdays and Anniversaries

On celebrating Birthdays and Anniversaries

Life !
This progression of moments  strung together like a necklace of beads - connected - it starts from a clasp and having gone full circle returns to it
Years are measured on every pass of the clasp till , due to a break somewhere , we don't return .

Every time we pass that point of connection we celebrate  and review the path trodden and the way ahead .   It's the date of commencement of yet another leg of the journey for which we are given a cheering start by well wishers and friends and the race recommences.
It's the New Year !
Yes it is a special day  for rejoicing and offering Thanksgiving for renewed opportunity .
It should always be made memorable !

Life is a jig saw puzzle

Just a thought - could imperfections be the spaces left in each one so that the pieces of the world's jig- saw puzzle can fit together to make the complete picture ?
The way for the gears of the Universe to mesh ?
When a desired goal is not obtained we start looking for errors and faults , mostly in " something or someone "  (including ourselves )
forgetting the strong possibility that its no ones fault
" it was MEANT to be so ! "
And in future will prove to be
" the Best thing " .

Some lessons from Pets

Dogs are the only pets I know of, who ,on meeting again , even after a parting of half an hour ,  behave as if it's been YEARS since they last  saw you !
Silly emotional people with no control on their feelings and the display of it .

In all these centuries this is something they should have learned - or is it supposed to be the reverse - an example for humans to follow !!

Trying to #understand the How , What and Where of Life

Sometimes these messages try to make life so simple , don't they ?
Points to ponder before judging !
How can one just wave goodbye without asking
1. Have you any attraction or quality that would make them want to call you or meet you ? Are you able to provide anything worthwhile ?
2. What were their limitations , compulsions , feelings , circumstances that prevented them from doing this
3. You built the expectation  that they would call / meet /connect  so how can you blame them for the disappointment ?

Aging is a matter of choice

Growing older annually is inevitable
Aging is a matter of choice

#The #catalyst !
With increasing age , pace of ones activity should increase, not slow down,  as time starts running out .
Time to accomplish and do all those things you want to do and those that, you did not so far ,in the mistaken belief that the luxury of time was yours .

So much yet to be said and communicated , so much yet to be created . It's sometimes overwhelming .

There are so many dreams yet  to be lived and so many people yet  to be served before the Trumpets sound - a moment towards which I am fast hurtling

So friends if you sometimes wonder why I am so much in haste to say and do so much and you find this oppressive or irritating  please understand that somewhere I believe I am running out of time ! 😊

Commanding Respect

Bending over backwards to be nice , understanding and helpful to others  who are not on the same page as you , yet - --
Can often  lead to loss of Self - Worth and Self - Respect due to the receivers  inability to read your intentions and to understand them and you .

Maintaining Self - Respect or Worth  is not part of the  Ego or Attitude it is just a way of retaining a balance  and possibly makes more logic to those who do not and have not known  #altruism in their life
#Getting #Respect  vs #Commanding #Respect

Guardian of the Morning Heights

In the soft glow of early morning, the peacock stood proudly upon the towering rock, watching the forest awaken beneath the gentle touch of dawn. Golden sunlight drifted across the hills, illuminating the dry woodland with hues of honey and pale emerald. Cool morning air carried silence through the valley, broken only by the whisper of leaves and distant birdsong. Against the rugged stone, the peacock’s shimmering blue and emerald plumage glowed like a living jewel of the wilderness. Majestic and serene, he appeared as the first sentinel of the day, welcoming the rising sun while the vast forest slowly stirred from its night-long slumber beneath the calm sky.

Regret is Meaningless

What IS  to  BE
WILL BE
Regrets of the past are #wasted #emotion
And then , when one is #dead , nothing matters - any more - does it ! ?

Yes if I go NOW I will go content and who cares what they write in my obituary !
It's been a good life so far - the thrill of the climb and the excitement of the downhill knowing that ' rock - bottom ' is firm ground to start building again !

The Lighter side of Life

😀😀😀😀😀😀
Some old funny stories ( about my favourite people ) which came out of the woodwork .
Goes to show that even without work the mind is never idle ...
Did i hear
" #mind - #what #mind ??!!!
======
Lady to Pet Shop salesperson about an intended purchase
" Is this dog of good pedigree ? "
Salesperson : " #Pedigree? !!! Madam , if this dog could talk , he would'nt talk to either of us ! "
😀😀
=========
Once , outside a Supermarket in the U.K.  two dogs , one a Yorkshire Terrier ( YT ) ( known for phlegmatic honesty ) and a Russian poodle ( RP )  who had just come from a luxurious life in Moscow , were left side by side by their owners .
As is common in such cases a conversation ensued
RP : "( Sigh ) In Moscow we used to eat caviar out of silver bowls and got some relishes as well. Times were good ! "
YT : ( Characteristically ) " Then why the @#$& did you come here ? "
RP : ( Raising an eyebrow ) " Well , one likes to bark once in a while , doesnt one ! ?"
😀😀😀
========
In a circus there was a dog who did miraculous tricks with spelling bees and maths . This drew away the crowd from others and the competitors , alarmed by their low sales , kidnapped the dog and cut it open to discover the secret
Out walked a cigar smoking midget saying
" Man ! That tail wagging part was difficult " 😀😀😀

Rock Bottom is a Leaping Hold

#The #Catalyst

Hopefulness is NOT
A Way of Thinking
it is
A Way of Life !

Is failure the spur that makes one gallop ?
The coincidence in all these stories is  the common factor - failure  and also the element of rejection in most .
These are just those that became famously known
It's almost as if the Universe designed their setback to better prepare them for their eventual roles
It could be doing that with you and me too !

The Other Side - Perception

Perceptions are a gigantic " spin - doctor " in opinions leading to (re)action !
It's incredible, at times , how the view changes depending on which side you are placed .
Example
1. The view of a valley changes dramatically when you look down on it from the opposite hill
2. The side of the coin opposing ' heads' is ' tails '. The difference could be winning or losing.
3. You feel sad that you have no shoes till you meet a man who has no feet
4. Bloke driving the wrong way on a one-way street thinks the party is over as everyone else seems to be coming back ! 😀
If only we could be sure that the opinion we formed was the best in class and guided by our Mind , Body,Soul and Instinct !
Who can know
What my dreams are
What I want to do
Where I want to go
How can they know
To do that
They have to live
My life first
But then these shoes
Fit only on my feet !
Not everyone can
Do as I do
Stand in another's shoes
And see life
From the " other side "

Point to ponder

Coincidence ?
EARTH and HEART are made up of the same Alphabets !
They both embody the whole World as known to us .
" In my Father's House there are many mansions "
John 14 2-3 KJV
can be applied to both in different ways but in the same direction.
The Heart is the pumping station that keeps Life going and is affected by Emotions and Senses.
The Earth also responds to pulses of waves from the Sun , Moon and Stars
The interconnection is clear but at the same time mystical .
Dwell on these things my friends and assist each other's understanding !

Importance of Blemishes

In any Person, Place or Thing, pristine perfection is so taken for granted that it rarely evinces any comment. People pass by without much ado.Breathing in a satisfied manner.
You can do things right continuously and nary a murmur occurs but the moment a blemish appears all conversations start .
A blank canvas hangs in the gallery for ages but when a spot of natural soot or dirt attaches itself a Legion of critics takes birth and pages of criticism get written. All wise persons emerge and the deafening conversations dim out the values of the original.
Is criticism the best form of getting attention or the act of praising the original goodness ?
To my mind the latter should take precedence over the former .

True Grit

The Catalyst
BE INNOVATIVE -
NOT COMBATIVE
Believe it's pragmatic to understand that, in real life , Goliaths will not be easily overpowered by your playing David how so ever in the right you may consider yourself .
It's a mythical concept and David- like victories are mostly a matter of imagination and dreams and filmy lore.
Reality Check : See a Goliath looming on the horizon - choose a suitable alternative route.
Discretion is the better part of valour
In every seeming obstacle lies the kernel of something better !
For many of us , a short winter of discontent makes us seem to forget the many joys of summer , spring and autumn.
We hold #grudges much longer than #gratefulness.
We tend to linger and loiter around hurt much much longer than  over moments of joy
We tend to question God about the reason for challenges in our life and can overlook  the millions of examples of His Grace !

The Nafde Family of Beraripura Chhindwara

The Family Gotra

Based on copper-plate inscriptions found in Chhindwara and neighbouring Seoni districts, it was speculated that the Vakatakas were in power here until the 3rd century CE.

it is believed that once upon a time the Chhindwara District was full of “Chhind” (Date-Palm) trees, and the place was named “Chhind”-“Wada” (wada means place). There is also another story that because of the population of Lions (in Hindi it is called “Sinh”), it was considered that making entry into this district is akin to passing through the entrance of Lions’ den. Hence it was called “Sinh Dwara” (means through the entrance of lion). In due course of time it became “Chhindwara”.

At first its important to say that like the famous historical sights near their home the family has remained connected over generations spread in the world !
As I turn 77 years of age  I am beset with some cherished memories dating back to over 72 years ago and thought I should put them down lest they become obscure again !
I made my entry in April 1949 at the Ranade Nursing Home in Jabalpur as a son of  Usha Nafde nee Sushila Tamhankar and Waman Nafde the eldest son of the Nafde Family . My sister Meena Tai preceded me into the world  by 4 yeas .
I  am not aware of  when the family moved to Beraripura but I have heard that our Great Grandfather was the Purohit of Nafed Gaon  which may explain the family name. My active memories ( of the house and members ) begin from the age of 4 - 5 years and  are from the, almost annual, summer holiday visits over the years.
The house we lived in was in the Patwari Wada across the road from the Madhyamik Vidyalaya from where our Grandfather Mr . Shankar Ganesh Nafde  ( known to his children as ' Kaka ' ) retired as the Head Master . It was a modest abode with a room in front backed by a larger room behind which was a longish room which served as a kitchen area and eating place where meals were taken sitting on paats . It was also the room where our Grandmother ( Aaji ) would cook delicious meals and bake even more delicious biscuits which she was expert at . At that time cooking etc used to be done on wood fires and kerosene stoves and the results were even more commendable . From this room one could exit to a back yard which had the outhouses and the secluded bathing areas , There was no piped water and the needs were met by fetching water from a well in the wada . From this room also there was a staircase leading upto a room on the roof with a small terrace . This room was , for me , a great place because it had a collection of books and novels .  While the roof and walls were cemented the inside of the house was not and had to be dressed with fresh cow dung . However , there was electricity and we had a radio and gramophone .
In those days Beraripura was a  collection of dusty lanes and a dusty main road going past the Wada . There were other buildings near by built with brick and mortar . Life was injected with great fun when we used to visit there - going to cinema hall where ladies used to sit in a different section from the men , running after rickshaws distributing leaflets about the new release or the circus ! I have many endearing memories including being taught cycling in the court yard of the school  by Bhaiyya Kaka and Kamlakar Kaka and sometimes even by Balloo Kaka  who also used to take me along on their visits to the market and other places . I remember accompanying Baby Atya to her college and going with my father to the club where he played Tennis .
The journey to Chhindwara used to be quite long . When my father was posted in Pathankot , Jhansi or Delhi we used to travel by train to Jabalpur . After some time with our maternal family we used to take a bus to Chhindwara via Seoni . From Seoni to Chhindwara the last part was like a hill trip through a forest and then to Chhindwara which being in the foothills has a pleasant climate ,
In the earlier visits Kaka used to sometimes sit squat legged before a low desk in which were kept his favourite pens and watch . On top was a bottle of home made ink in which he used to dip his pen and write . In later visits I found him restricted to his bed which was just inside the front door .
Aaji was a wonderful person with many skills . Apart from cooking she was an expert at embroidery and bead craft . I remember the doors and walls adorned by colourful  bead curtains depicting peacocks and birds and one with ' swagatam ' inscribed . She had also created a sailing ship inside a glass  bottle .
I wonder what happened to those works and also the books on the first floor . If any of you know please tell me . Aaji was the daughter of a Cotton Trader in Ahmedabad and I believe , at a young age , used to accompany her father to the mandi which might explain her knowledge about business and Insurance which she exhibited in some of my conversations with her in later life .
The house had a tradition of Pan Tambaku and there used to always be a silver plate with Supari / Adkitta , Paan, Tobacco leaf , Chuna , Lavang etc . There were several types of large and Small adkittas.
Early days , the house had resident - apart from Ajoba and Aji -
Sindhu Atya - who was a teacher
Padmakar ( Bhaiyya ) Kaka who in later years attended Teachers Training College in Amravati and later settled in Gondia
Kamlakar ( Guttu ) Kaka who in my earliest memory was a body builder and knew martial arts and later went for training in the Railways and became a guard and settled down in Bilaspur.
Moreshwar ( Balloo ) Kaka - who worked in the forest department and was an ardent bhakt of Shirdi Sai Baba and to whom Shri Sai Nath ji  had visited in the form of a Sadhu and given a miraculous gift .
Vimal ( Baby ) Atya who in the early memories was a student and then a teacher staying in Parasia and then settled down in Chhindwara .
Non - resident was Prabhakar Kaka who settled down in Bhopal along with his sons Arun and Subhash .
Any account would be incomplete without mention of Adkya ji who was the big help in the house fetching water from the well and doing other odd jobs . He was an employee of the State Roadways by day and used to get our tickets to travel back to Jabalpur . His son Baburao was my companion and playmate .
In a nearby house stayed Advocate Ghate and his son Shamu was also a playmate .
I wonder where their lives led them !
All the Kakas are married now. In fact one of my  endearing memories is the wedding of Bhaiyya Kaka when the whole family travelled by train to another town . We were hosted in the boy side wing of a wedding house and the ceremonies took place in the hall. Great fun as well as the journey back with a new member of the family !
For various reasons , inadvertently and sadly , I have been out of touch with my cousins Raju, Sujata, Arun, Subhash , Seema , Ravindra and their extended families and would like to know more just as I would about my nephews and nieces.
I need to wind up now.
Inquisitive questions are sometimes asked to catch up on lost time and to seek to make good on an image of overlooking a sense of belonging !
Please do endure the long read and update me if possible on the trajectories followed by your lives and those of your extended families .

Advantage All Creatures

" I think I could turn and live with animals, they are

so placid and self-contained, I stand and look at them long and long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition ,

They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins, "

Walt Whitman " Animals "

Plants and Animals of The Sahara Desert

If we think of it - The Creator has designed and equipped each creature to withstand the harshest of conditions and this is true of  us HUMANS too !!

The challenge is that we also have the ability to deliberate on our state  and moan and groan instead of bringing our survival training into play .

Looking at the animals and plants living successfully and contributively in The Sahara Desert which is considered to be one of the harshest terrains on the planet should give us Humans some cardinal lessons .

Here is what I gleaned from the Internet which I am sharing with you as food for thought .....

Mammals

  • Fennec Fox: Oversized ears act like radiators, dissipating heat, while also giving them superb hearing to detect prey at night.
  • Dromedary Camel: Stores fat (not water) in its hump, which can be metabolized for energy and water. Its oval red blood cells allow survival during dehydration and rapid rehydration.
  • Jerboa: Tiny rodent with long legs that enable it to leap great distances, avoiding predators and conserving energy in the open desert.

Birds

  • Desert Sparrow: Builds nests in shaded areas to avoid overheating, and can survive on minimal water intake.
  • Ostrich: Uses its large body mass to retain heat at night and withstand extreme daytime temperatures.

Reptiles & Insects

  • Horned Viper: Buries itself in sand, both to ambush prey and to stay cool.
  • Desert Ants: Navigate using the sun’s position and can withstand surface temperatures that would kill most other insects.
  • Scorpions: Nocturnal, hiding in burrows during the day to avoid heat, emerging at night when temperatures drop.

Key Survival Strategies

  • Nocturnality: Many species avoid daytime heat by being active at night.
  • Water Conservation: Physiological adaptations (like concentrated urine or tolerance to dehydration) are common.
  • Camouflage: Sandy-colored coats and scales help animals blend into dunes and avoid predators.
  • Burrowing: Provides shelter from extreme temperatures and predators.

The Sahara’s wildlife is a living showcase of evolution’s ingenuity—each adaptation is a finely tuned response to one of Earth’s harshest environments.

Sahara Plants 🌵

  • Deep Root Systems: Trees like the date palm send roots far down to tap underground aquifers.
  • Water Storage: Succulents such as cacti and euphorbia store water in fleshy stems or leaves.
  • Reduced Leaves: Many plants (e.g., acacia) have tiny or needle-like leaves to minimize water loss.
  • Salt Tolerance: Halophytes (salt-loving plants) thrive in saline depressions by excreting or compartmentalizing excess salt.
  • Dormancy: Annuals like colocynth (bitter apple) germinate quickly after rare rains, complete their life cycle in weeks, then leave seeds to wait for the next rainfall.
  • Protective Features: Spines, thorns, or bitter compounds deter herbivores and reduce evaporation.
  • Reflective Surfaces: Some shrubs have silvery or hairy leaves that reflect sunlight and reduce heat absorption.

Sahara plants are masters of water efficiency, heat resistance, and rapid opportunism—turning one of Earth’s harshest landscapes into a surprisingly resilient ecosystem.

plant adaptations support animal survival

Sahara plants don’t just survive—they actively support the survival of desert animals through a web of interdependent adaptations. Here's how:

How Plant Adaptations Help Animals Thrive

Plant Adaptation

Animal Benefit

Example

Deep Roots

Access to underground water sources supports oases where animals gather

Date palms create shaded microhabitats for foxes, birds, and insects

Water Storage (Succulence)

Herbivores like camels and jerboas feed on moisture-rich stems and leaves

Cacti and euphorbia offer hydration during droughts

Thorns and Tough Leaves

Protect plants from overgrazing, ensuring long-term food availability

Acacia trees feed giraffes and antelope without being destroyed

Ephemeral Growth

Quick bursts of greenery after rain provide seasonal food for grazers and seed-eaters

Colocynth and desert grasses support rodents and insects

Salt Tolerance

Stabilizes saline soils, enabling niche habitats for burrowing animals

Halophytes support ant colonies and scorpions in salt flats

Shade and Shelter

Shrubs and trees offer refuge from heat and predators

Acacia and tamarisk trees shelter birds, reptiles, and mammals

Ecological Synergy

  • Camels browse on thorny shrubs and salty plants, which their specialized mouths can handle.
  • Fennec foxes and jerboas dig burrows near plant roots for cooler temperatures.
  • Birds like desert sparrows nest in shrubs and feed on seeds and insects attracted to vegetation.
  • Insects pollinate desert flowers and serve as prey for reptiles and birds.

In essence, Sahara plants are the architects of survival—creating microclimates, food sources, and shelter that allow animals to persist in one of Earth’s harshest environments.

All Things Bright and Beautiful - Little Creatures - Bees and Ants

This world we live in teaches us to think big while working for the Highest Good for All . To this end the Creator has different thoughts and, for the healthy continuity of this engineering marvel we call our home, has given the small components the ability to look after themselves while doing good for others.

All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours, He made their tiny wings.

Bees and ants are vital pollinators and ecosystem engineers that sustain biodiversity, soil health, and food production.

Bees pollinate about one-third of global crops and wild plants by transferring pollen between flowers, enabling reproduction and supporting food chains. This process boosts plant diversity, which sustains forests, fruits, and habitats for wildlife. Without bees, ecosystems would face collapse in biodiversity and agriculture

Ants aerate soil through tunneling, improving water infiltration, oxygen flow, and nutrient access for plant roots. They recycle organic matter by decomposing dead insects, plants, and waste, enriching soil fertility. Ants also disperse seeds via myrmecochory and control pests naturally by preying on harmful insects

Together, bees and ants maintain ecological balance—bees drive plant growth while ants enhance soil and waste cycles. Their decline threatens food security, habitat stability, and nutrient cycling worldwide. Conservation of their habitats preserves these foundational roles.

Their Engineering Abilities to create sustainable Housing and Work Spaces

Wild bee colonies, like those of honey bees, nest in tree cavities or rock crevices, lining walls with propolis resin for sealing. Inside, beeswax forms dense honeycomb with hexagonal prismatic cells arranged vertically; upper sections store honey, middle holds pollen, and lower areas contain brood (eggs, larvae, pupae) in worker cells or larger drone/queen cells. Passageways along comb edges allow bee movement, with combs attached to cavity tops and sides

Hexagons maximize strength-to-weight ratio, with rounded corners and thick walls enhancing stiffness against stress. Bees secrete, chew, and shape wax into spiral-built cells starting circular then forming perfect hexagons for space efficiency. This biomimetic architecture inspires human designs for durability and resource use

Ant hills feature intricate, multi-level underground architectures designed for colony survival, climate control, and efficiency.

External Structure

Above ground, ant hills appear as dome-shaped or conical mounds of soil, often 1-2 meters tall in species like leafcutter or harvester ants, with a central crater or entry hole. These mounds include protective ramparts and ribs for stability against erosion, rain, and predators. The exterior acts as a ventilation shaft, funneling air and heat regulation.

Internal Layout

Below ground, networks of tunnels (20-70° inclined shafts) connect chambers for brood rearing, food storage, and waste disposal. Chambers vary: deeper ones stay cool and humid for eggs/larvae; upper levels warm for foraging ants. Pillars and branched supports—broad bases tapering upward—enhance mechanical strength up to 600 times via topology.

Engineering Features

Tunnels aerate soil and circulate air via passive ventilation, with fungal gardens in some species (e.g., leafcutters) in dedicated chambers. Construction uses excavated soil reinforced over weeks to years, adapting to environment for flood/earthquake resistance. This biomimicry inspires robust human designs.
